Synopsis
There are no heroes in this comic book movie. Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) leads a poor and troubled life in 1980s Gotham City. Stricken with a mental illness that causes him to laugh uncontrollably, he struggles to hold down a job when the whole world seems to be against him and his dream of being a famous comedian. It isn’t until he is pushed too far one day that he kills a few wealthy citizens and stirs up a controversy of class warfare. Embracing the madness, Arthur soon comes to learn that the city looks upon him more favorably as a clown-faced killer. Joker is directed by Todd Phillips and was released on Oct 4th, 2019.
